In the past, the school has had fewer students pass standardized tests than at the neighboring high schools. Last year, only 74 percent of Orange Glens sophomores who took the math and English exams passed, compared with about 80 percent of sophomores at Escondido High School and 84 percent of sophomores at San Pasqual High School.
Orange Glen also ranks below the districts two other comprehensive high schools on the states Academic Performance Index, which organizes schools by students annual improvement in standardized test scores. Last year, Orange Glens performance declined by 11 points, garnering a score of 667.
